Kathii Wever

2 years ago I couldn’t have done this walk...

Briefly (anyone who knows me knows thats near impossible 😂) I was injured during the birth of my son Levi now 13. The aim here is to bring awareness to Maternal Birth Injury so I’ll leave his very dramatic story aside. Other than to say his very serious injuries took the focus off my own life changing injury.

I have lived with severe chonic pain & pelvic instability.

So... I'm #startingtheconversation and joining Walk N Talk!

On Saturday September 12, I'm joining the hundreds as we Walk N Talk in support of The Australasian Birth Trauma Association (ABTA).

ABTA is a national charity committed to reducing the instance and impact of birth-related trauma whilst supporting affected women, families and health professionals.

1 in 3 Australian women identify their birth as traumatic and research suggests that 10-20% of first-time mothers may suffer major irreversible physical birth trauma. It's likely that you know someone who has experienced birth trauma.

The ABTA is almost entirely funded by donations and I hope to raise vital funds and awareness for them. Please donate to my fundraising and every dollar will help ABTA expand their support service/reach more women in need Nationwide.

For too long women and families have suffered in silence, but the power is in sharing our stories and using our voices so other people don’t need to walk this journey alone. #starttheconversation.

You can help make a difference. Please help by supporting my Walk n Talk.

1 in 3 women identify their birth as traumatic!

This is the moment I first saw Levi on life support @ about 10hrs post birth... I was wheeled down in my bed to be close to him. This photo encapsulates both my physical & emotional trauma better than my words could... jump forward 11years... I found ABTA... before that there was no clear pathway to getting the help I needed. ABTA is committed to provide support to all forms of birth trauma... reach out if you are the 1 in 3... otherwise donate & be apart of the change.

The purpose is more important than the distance...

Maternal birth injury is not great small talk... it always gets awkward. But I believe it is important to #starttheconversation. So this is the perfect & a positive way to do it.
As you may know I have had my own journey with Maternal birth injury, due to a traumatic birth 13 years ago. I am still recovering from a pelvic fusion but it will not stop me walking tomorrow, though it will limit the distance & speed.     I know its late notice but please consider sponsoring me & or if you need support due to your own Childbirth experience, physically, emotionally or mentally ABTA provides a space to share, learn & find support. Lets Thrive not just survive...

Thank you to my Sponsors
