I'm fundraising for a great cause!

I'm joining the Walk n Support for those impacted by birth trauma!
On Sunday 24th July, I'm walking to raise funds to support the Australasian Birth Trauma Association (ABTA).

The ABTA is a peer-led community dedicated to helping Australian and New Zealanders prevent and heal from birth-related trauma. The ABTA does this through advocacy, education, research and peer-led support.

1 in 3 Australian women identify their birth as traumatic and research suggests that 10-20% of first-time mothers may suffer major irreversible physical birth trauma. Anyone can experience birth-related trauma including people giving birth, partners, friends and family members of people giving birth and other people witnessing a birth or providing care in relation to pregnancy and birth, including health professionals. It's likely that you know someone who has experienced birth-related trauma.

The ABTA is almost entirely funded by donations and I hope to raise vital funds and awareness for them. Please donate to my fundraising and every dollar will help ABTA expand their support services and reach more people in need.

For too long women and families have suffered in silence, but the power is in sharing our stories and using our voices so other people don’t need to walk this journey alone.

Intro! 🥰

Wednesday 6th Jul

Hi 👋🏼 I’m Elise!

I’m a born and bred Wagga girl that spent a few years living it up in Melbourne before returning to start a family!

I’m a Registered Nurse with a passion for maternal mental health & currently completing a post graduate certificate in this area. I love being a nurse, making the biggest career change of my life 5 years ago was, although scary, the best thing I have ever done (other than have my babies). Most importantly I’m a mum to 2 beautiful babies. I was drawn to being a volunteer with Australasian Birth Trauma Association because of their strong vision and message for supporting those who have experienced birth trauma. I believe our beautiful town of Wagga and surrounding Riverina towns deserve to have access to more resources and supports. The women and families here deserve to be heard and supported which is why I am fundraising and hosting the walk - to help make a change for the better. I want to spread the message that for those who feel isolated in their journey, we are here. You are not alone.
